  2. Sugar Tax: South Africa implemented a sugar-sweetened beverage tax in 2018, which has influenced pricing structures for sugary drinks like Coca-Cola.

  3. Packaging Costs: Rising costs of packaging materials have also impacted the final retail prices.

  4. Logistics and Fuel Prices: Increases in fuel prices have affected transportation costs, contributing to higher product prices.

Health Improvements

  • From 2017–2022, Coca-Cola removed more than 900,000 tons of sugar globally through over 1,000 beverage reformulations​

  • 29% of the volume sold in 2022 contained low- or zero-calories (up from 27.2% in 2021, 27.3% in 2020, and 25.2% in 2019).
